Elaine was raised on a farm in upstate New York. Encouraged by her grandmother, a porcelain painter, Elaine's art experience began at age four. She entered her first art competition at ten and began teaching at fourteen.
Starting a painting on location allows her to not only see the subject, but feel, hear and sometimes touch the subject as well. But, at a certain point in the painting process, she puts away all reference material, sketches, etc. "I finish a painting without references so I can concentrate on putting me in it and making the subject mine." Elaine leaves the viewer completely absorbed in the mood of each scene by capturing and recording a special moment in time. Although she enjoys working in watercolor and acrylic, her main medium is oil, as she finds it most suitable for her painting style.
Elaine's second passion is teaching painting and all that goes along with the painting process. She has a BA Degree in Art Education from the University of South Carolina.
Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. and the world.
